Feature Request - Presets patterns that can be added to timeline

Some other drum programmes have a feature like this, preset patterns that can be pulled into the timeline. It would be a really quick and simple way to arrange a song.

The idea would be to have a pattern bucket that you could drag from into the pattern editor (think dragging audio files from the region list in ardour onto the timeline and being able to easily arrange/duplicate them). It could be arranged by beats, fills, etc. I don't know how easy or hard this would be to implement (i'm assuming not easy :P) but it is something i have often thought would make a great piece of software even better.

You could save patterns as you go along and before you know it, you would have a huge bucket of presets that could aid you in quickly putting together a drum track to that song you just came up with on the guitar :)

Has there been any consideration given to such a feature?

this feature is since a long time available. you can save and load pattern. after saving a pattern you find an extra item called "pattern" in the sound library browser. if you expand this item all pattern you have saved are listed in categories. and it is possible to simply drag them into the song editor pattern list. creating categories is simple. right clicking on a pattern in song editor pattern list open a context menu. use "proprtys" to edit pattern name and create or select an category here. new categories will added to the coresponding drop down menu.

I don't know how i didn't know that feature was there. Feel silly now :P Thanks for pointing that out and i will look forward to messing around with it and making some patterns. Where abouts are the patterns saved by the way? I am running Ubuntu. I reinstall every once in awhile and would like to be able to easily copy them over. Thanks

patterns are stored under ~/.hydrogen/data/patterns/(drumkitname)

i noticed a bug in the pattern save and load feature on all versions > 0.9.5. there is an inconsistency between save pattern via context-menu and main-menu->save pattern. saving via context-menu stored the pattern without drumkit sub folders. in this case the pattern will not listed in the soundlibrary browser.
